The community borders directly on Harlaching, the southernmost district of Munich. Grünwald is about 12 kilometres from the city centre, which can be reached by car in about 25 minutes. The A99 motorway ring road is also only about 10 minutes away by car via Oberhaching. The tram, line 25, has been connecting Grünwald and Munich for more than 110 years. The tram runs from the terminus at Derbolfinger Platz to Wettersteinplatz in less than 20 minutes, from where you can reach the city centre in a few minutes by underground. Two buses, lines 222 and 271, connect Grünwald with Höllriegelskreuth in Pullach, with a journey time of about 10 minutes. From Höllriegelskreuth, Munich's main railway station can be reached in about 20 minutes via the S-Bahn, line 7.
